Every brokerage, prop firm and payment business needs a corporate account: to hold company funds, receive client deposits, settle card and crypto providers and pay suppliers. It is also the step most founders underestimate. Banks see trading businesses as high-risk, and a rushed application is the fastest way to a permanent no.
·Bank or EMI?
A bank holds deposits under a banking licence. An EMI (electronic money institution) safeguards client funds and issues IBANs, and is often quicker to open for a new trading business. Many brokers open an EMI IBAN first and add a traditional bank as volumes grow.
·What the bank checks
- Corporate documents: incorporation, registers, structure chart, proof of address
- Who the owners and directors are, with source of funds and source of wealth
- Business plan, target markets and expected volumes
- Licence status and AML/KYC policies
- Website compliance: terms, risk disclosures, restricted countries
·UAE vs EU accounts
UAE banks suit companies with real substance in the Emirates and give access to USD and AED. EU EMIs give you a EUR IBAN for SEPA and SEPA Instant. Offshore entities can often bank too, through institutions that accept them, especially alongside a UAE operating company.
